Confirmation- Blogspot is banned
tapsboy
I just saw a newsreport on Times Now, where I got the confirmation of my fears as reported 2 days back.
BLOGSPOT is banned. Becoz of mumbai blasts??? I am not sure!!
The key issue is that it is banned along with other Anit-India websites. Our stupid f**king govt. officials dont understand that is a blog and not a website. Even if they wanted to ban certain blogs, they could have banned it like xyz.blogspot.com. They instead banned the whole blogspot.com. Also came to know that even the ancient personal website tool geocities.com has been banned.
Why does the whole Indian blogging community suffer because of few insane anti-Indians? Blogspot.com is a google product and is the most famous blogging platform in the world. Most Indians and people everywhere who have the list amount of technical knowhow blog becoz of blogspot.com’s simplicity and ease. Infact after the mumbai blasts, http://mumbaihelp.blogspot.com was most famous and more reliable than police information sources.
This people at NIC(National Informatics Center) are nuts. Well on a second thought, it would not be them but the stupid bureaucrats & politicians above them. Saturday, when this all started, I think was the blackest day of Internet history in India till now. Ofcourse, I expect more to follow.
Time to defend your freedom!! We are a free country. Just because of some govt. stupid decision, we will not stop blogging. We will get new domains, use proxy servers and still blog. There are a 1000 ways to defend our rights on the Internet. If revealing our identity becomes dangerous, we will become anonymous and fight.I also want to convey a message to our stupid ministers or officials, who took this decision and those anti-India outfits, that we the Indian bloggers will not be intimidated or influenced by external forces. Our patriotism cannot reduce and infact, it will only increase when we blog. You cannot stop us from interacting with the outside world.
This is not a communist china, autocratic pakistan or theocratic iran. We are a democracy, India. Please remember that. Freedom is our birth right, just like patriotism is our duty towards our country.
Update:1
Cracks to view your the banned websites:
1)http://www.pkblogs.com – a Pakistani proxy will help you see the blogs.
2)http://www.inblogs.com – an Indian proxy , a copy of the pakistani one just with new domain name will help you see the blogs.
3)http://www.google.com/translate – Write the page URL of your blog and select translate from spanish to english or french to english or any other language to english
4)http://www.kproxy.com/ – All banned sites can be seen
6)Use any Online RSS readers like http://www.bloglines.com
Update 2:
If you are against the ban, join us at

Update 3:
Sorry for being over-critical of the Indian Govt. I have now started to get a feeling that it is the ISP’s to be blamed. Just read somewhere that one of the ISP’s had received a 22-page long list of websites to be blocked. Those lazy bums rather decided to ban the whole websites as a shortcut to quickly ensure that they were following govt. orders. In the process, they have outraged their own customers.
Update 4:
The issue is getting ample focus, very rightly. It;s the main story on homepage of CNN-IBN’s website ibnlive.com .
Update 5:
We have won!!!
Blockade to be removed in 48 hours:

[...] For those of us still standing, we can’t help but wonder. Where have the cheerleaders gone? Is this all they cared for? Their own little selves? The block may be lifted, but the ban is firmly in place. The babus successfully evaded having to explain themselves. They rose in mock anger, threatened ISPs for the mess, then excused themselves because the order after all came from another department. [...]

hey all thankx for your comments,
but I think the issue is much deeper than any one of us can imagine, we can’t know for sure, why did all this happen , was is it a drama, a mistake, complacency, incompetence or bad attitude of govt, bureaucrats or ISPs, or was it just a gr8 marketing ploy for google and blogspot. All conspiracy theories can be thought of.I will get into more details of this and get something out.
Ekta,
I do see your photos on flickr, they are gr8, but dont worry, such smaller incidents, in the largest context of our country, cannot shake the foundations of our democracy.
Issues like reservations or communal riots and poverty can become much bigger causes for any such destruction in our country.

Democracy is run by the people, for the people. But in India its too mockery. Fight against this mockery. We have rights but dont forget the duties. I am reading the news that the court cases being run for more than 15 years and still threre is no result! democracy being run for the benefits of special people who were samantas and sarnjamdars of old days and democracy is for such people and run by such people .All roots are lying into unhealthy election system.
Take example: One booth of any constituency has list of 1000 voters. generally 50% voters turn for voting, so 500 votes are casted. Suppose ten candidates are contesting the election, and suppose all candidates likely to get equal votes since they ‘equaly fool’ the voters. The one who fools most, get more votes. In this example anybody gets 500/10 i.e. 51 votes , he is likely to get elected and claim to prepresent the 1000 voters. Any candidate who is able to collect just 50 votes per booth or at the most 55 votes per booth then he is likely to get elected! This the best mockery of the election system and we claim the Indian democracy is most largest, dynamic(Indian 40% voting is the bench mark for many other democracies). are we living in fools paradise? The population of indian net users is merely 0.01% and bloggers are 0.001% Dont just blog bust give every person in contact the statistical information of election system
1. See that you name is in voters list with apropriate details as: Correct name, middle name, residence number, age, sex mentioned in the list is correct. Help others also to verfy the details
2. Note in you personal diary, the booth number, part number constituency number, srl number , page number of the list in which your name is printed. Help others to note such things so that while casting the votes, others do not confuse you and you have to run here and there.
3.Compare only two parties in front of and ignore all others show openly your ignorance to such candidates. Our campaign aims for two party system. We are voters and we need two parties only like the british people. (one question: Why the British implemented here multiparty system and not like theirs two pary system? Multi party system is one kind of slavery to fragmentation!)
4. If you do this in any one election actively and help others to do this, then in next five years the politicians have to be united to fight against the voters tactics. They will form only two parties and the voters will have full controll over the governemnts!
